October, 1994, marked the start of Team Simpson Racing's second generation drivers. Tara Simpson, daughter of Terry, began racing in the Jr. Drag Racing League at the age of 10. Shortly thereafter, Tara's younger brother Randy joined in the Jr. ranks in 1996 following his eighth-birthday. Together, the sibling duo stormed the country winning races throughout the nation.
Now, the father-son duo of Terry and Randy compete in the NHRA Lucas Oil Series in the Stock Eliminator category. 2007 marked the beginning of the team's new venture. The debut season was highlighted with a Strange Engineering Perfectly Strange Performance Award in only the second race out, putting together a 0.015 package. That, coupled with consistently going rounds put Randy in the top 30 in Division 3 points after only four races counting towards points.
The 2008 sophomore season in Stock Eliminator was highlighted by two firsts for the team. We earned our first Lucas Oil Series win and also placed in the top 10 in Division 3 NHRA Lucas Oil Series points, with a ninth place finish.
With the specific goal of winning our first NHRA National Event in Stock Eliminator, we came up one-round short of achieving our goal with a runner-up finish in the NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
Always forward minded, Team Simpson Racing is in preparation for the 2010 race season. Expectations are high as the team enters it's fourteenth season with Randy behind the wheel and fourth season in Stock Eliminator.
